Grammar Focus: Causative (have / get something done)
We use the causative when we arrange for someone else to do something for us. The focus is on the action, not who performs it.
- have something done — Subject + have + object + past participle (more formal service): I had my car repaired.
- get something done — Subject + get + object + past participle (less formal, implies effort): I got my hair cut.
The object comes before the past participle: We need to have our data encrypted.
