Grammar Focus: Inversion (Negative Adverbials)

Inversion reverses the usual subject-verb order after certain negative adverbials at the start of a sentence, for emphasis or formality.

Form: Negative adverbial + auxiliary + subject + main verb.

Common adverbials: never (before), rarely, seldom, hardly (ever), scarcely, no sooner... than, little, only then/by/after, under no circumstances, not until.

Examples: Rarely do we consider... Never before has the world been so connected. Under no circumstances should we underestimate it.
