Grammar Focus: Prepositions of Time: 'in', 'on', 'at'

Prepositions of time tell us when something happens.

  • in — longer periods (months, seasons, years) and parts of the day: in July, in summer, in 2025, in the morning.
  • on — specific days of the week and dates: on Monday, on my birthday, on 25th December.
  • at — specific clock times, meal times, and holidays: at 9 o'clock, at lunchtime, at night, at Christmas.
