Grammar Focus: Modals: 'can' and 'can't'
Can and can't are modal verbs. We use them to express ability, possibility, and permission.
- can (ability/possibility): Subject + can + base verb — I can swim.
- can't (cannot) (inability/impossibility): Subject + can't + base verb — I can't fly.
- Questions: Can + subject + base verb? — Can you speak English?
