Grammar Focus: Passive Voice (Basic)

The Passive Voice emphasizes the action or the object, rather than the doer. We use it when the doer is unknown, unimportant, or obvious.

Structure: Object + be (am/is/are/was/were/will be) + past participle (V3).

  • Active: Farmers harvest the beans.
  • Passive: The beans are harvested (by farmers).

Examples: Chocolate is loved by many people. The beans are roasted. The bars are wrapped.
