Grammar Focus: Relative Clauses (who, which, that, where)

Relative clauses give more information about a noun without starting a new sentence. They begin with relative pronouns.

  • who — for people: He is the man who lives next door.
  • which — for things and animals: This is the book which I read.
  • that — for people or things (very common): She is the girl that helped me.
  • where — for places: This is the house where I grew up.
