Grammar Focus: Past Simple vs. Past Continuous
- Past Simple — completed actions and a sequence of events: Last year, I visited Bangkok. I took a river boat. Verb: -ed (regular) or irregular form. Time words: yesterday, last week, in 2020, suddenly.
- Past Continuous — an action in progress at a specific past time, often interrupted by a Past Simple action: While I was walking through the streets, I saw amazing things. Verb: was/were + verb-ing. Used with while, as, when.
